Ranjit Mitra

Prof. Mitra graduated in architecture from Jadavpur University and Urban Design from School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi. He has been the Director of SPA New Delhi since November 2007 and faculty since 1990. He is also a visiting Professor at University of New South Wales, Australia and member of the editorial board of the Journal of Urbanism, International Research on Placemaking and Urban Sustainability. He serves as member of several boards and committees of government institutions, including the National Design Council, the Archaeological Survey of India and The Indian Council for Cultural Relations. He has been in teaching and architectural practice since 1974 in Kolkata, Tanzania and Delhi, and has designed and executed several architectural and urban design projects particularly in Eastern India such as master plan for Visva Bharati at Shantiniketan and Bidhan Chandra Krishi Visva Vidlaya at Kalyani; the restoration of the Gwalior Monument and Princep Memorial at Kolkata .
